Inspectorate Invests in Jet Fuel Testing in West Africa

Inspectorate has been at the forefront of petroleum testing for many years. With a view to expanding its business in West Africa, the company recently approved the purchase of a modern range of jet fuel testing equipment, which has subsequently been installed in the company's Lagos laboratory. The equipment has now been commissioned to cater for the growing demand for jet fuel testing in the region and to meet the stringent standards that govern such testing internationally.

Testing of jet fuel is performed in accordance with ASTM and IP test methods and the available tests in Lagos include:

Saybolt color; Appearance; Particulate contamination; Particle count (which is the approved method to replace the particulate contamination test method in 2009); Total acidity; Total Sulphur content; Doctor test; Atmospheric distillation; Flash point; Density (in air and vacuum); Freezing point; Smoke point; Copper corrosion; Existent gum; Micro-separometer rating; and electrical conductivity.

The Lagos laboratory also has an extensive testing capacity for gasoline, gas oil, fuel oils and other petroleum products. Located in the center of Apapa, the commercial centre of marine business in Lagos, the laboratory is staffed with highly trained professional chemists with many years of experience and training and who are responsible for taking care of the daily activities of testing, recertification and calibration of the laboratory equipment and operations.
